VENTA Real Estate Group

Simplicity meets naturalness

The “Steirerhof” on Jakominiplatz in the heart of Graz is a place with a long history. The “House of the City of Trieste” stood on this site from 1790 until it was rebuilt and opened as the “Grandhotel Steirerhof” in 1905. The luxury hotel was then regarded as the city’s premier address, where numerous celebrities from the worlds of culture and politics stayed until 1989.

Today’s Steirerhof was finally built in 1992/93 according to the design of architect Adolf Krischanitz. This time as a commercial and office building which, thanks to its eye-catching façade and colors, has shaped the cityscape of the Styrian capital no less than its architectural predecessors ever since.

We were commissioned to plan and redesign the reception area, meeting rooms and offices for the VENTA Real Estate Group, which is based in the Steirerhof. The aim was to adopt the functional simplicity and permeability of the design language as well as the natural color palette of the façade and reflect it in the interior spaces.

In the reception area, whose floor-to-ceiling windows open up a panoramic view over the rooftops of Graz, this is particularly evident in the combination of sunny colors and the wall design of living moss as well as the graphically permeable rear wall behind the modern, simple reception desk.

The theme in the meeting rooms and offices is in turn determined by a different color from the façade palette, which is contrasted with the throughout green-framed windows and is continued across the walls and seating furniture right up to the floating “clouds” of the lighting elements, which are slightly suspended from the ceiling.

McLaren Showroom Vienna

McLaren Vienna

When car racing driver Bruce McLaren founded his own racing team in 1965, he made his surname a byword for racing, for speed, for automotive engineering and the legend of 12 Formula 1 world championship titles.

McLaren is also the only racing car constructor apart from Mercedes to produce road cars: Noble, impressively designed and individually configured unique pieces that make the heart of every automobile fan beat faster.

For the exclusive McLaren showroom in Vienna, we were entrusted with the implementation of individual furnishings, which, in contrast to the previous hand-picked locations worldwide, had to comply with McLaren’s very latest design guidelines for the first time.

Contrary to what one might expect, the showroom is not dominated by “papaya orange”, McLaren’s official color, but by understated, elegant black, grey and anthracite.

The furnishings, architecture and design interlock perfectly and, despite their exclusivity, serve the sole purpose of a showroom: not to steal the show from the true stars, such as the Artura MSO or 750S Spider, but to showcase them perfectly.

Palais Apartment Vienna

Perfection in a classic design language

The apartment we planned, designed, and crafted in a palace in the heart of Vienna combines classical design language with modern details and contemporary art to the highest perfection.

Traditional herringbone-patterned wooden parquet floors meet the finest leather wall coverings and striking details against effectively showcased furniture like the kitchen island made of matt shimmering stainless steel. At the same time, the straight-lined, perfectly realized wall designs provide not only a uniquely elegant ambiance and a representative framework for artworks but also conceal additional exclusive ‘hidden spatial wonders’ behind their aesthetic fronts.

Such as the dressing room. Here, a very special and private atmosphere unfolds amidst sensual-haptic wall coverings with high-quality fabric throughout the ‘Dressing Room’, the perfectly coordinated floor coverings, and the highly functional precision built-ins that offer ample and stylish space for all exclusive garments. In addition, a safe, watch winders, and integrated drawers for jewelry and accessories ensure the highest security and readiness for exquisite valuables.

Office Petersplatz

Spacious office in the centre of Vienna

In this redesign of a representative Viennese period property located directly on Graben into a spacious office, Cserni was responsible for the holistic interior architectural concept and its artisanal execution. This included the complete interior design and selection of materials, as well as the design of the furniture and the realization of the entire interior setup in the form of custom-made unique pieces, in addition to the exquisite selection of stand-alone furnishings and, finally, the unique lighting design created by Cserni, including its implementation.

The challenge that was mastered consisted of combining classic with modern, as well as contemporary art, and the place as a workplace with a feel-good atmosphere. Rounded shapes, light, a variety of different sophisticated material details, and perfectly placed interior accents, as well as custom-made furniture, ultimately create a unique and extraordinary ambiance in combination.

The Reception

Right from the reception area, one is struck by the natural warmth of the wall coverings made of the finest leather and the impressive lighting design, which brings out the custom-designed herringbone parquet floor and is reflected in the high-gloss surfaces like matte shimmering, rounded metal inlays of the reception desk.

The meeting room

Despite its necessary functionality, the large meeting room is no less aesthetically and atmospherically sophisticated. This is ensured by the specially shaped table as well as the seating that is as appealing as it is comfortable, and particularly by the “floating” lighting design, which can illuminate the entire room from stimulating to elegantly atmospheric without causing glare.

The Lounge

The focal point of the lounge is undoubtedly the also custom-made bar with its organically rounded design language and the elegant, vertical slats that are echoed in the supporting element of the table. The lighting design we created above the table ensures, in addition to the daylight from the generous window front, a perfect lighting mood and, along with the many other sophisticated details, for the special atmosphere of the room that lets it shine in elegance.

Vienna Airport

Vienna Airport, Business Lounge

By planning and implementation of the new business lounge with the area of 2700 m² in the Terminal 2 of the Vienna International Airport (VIA), we were once again able to demonstrate how a general contractor can set holistic architectural accents.

On the one hand, our task was to develop the entire design for all the areas from the reception, Viennese café, the Naschmarkt food-court stand, entertainment area and family area up to the prayer room, meeting rooms and toilet facilities, as well as implementation planning for all sections including electrical and technical services and the entire project management. On the other hand, this involved the entire interior design, and we undertook the furniture production in our own carpentry, as well as overall implementation of furnishings, including interior design tasks concerning loose furniture, lightning and all other interior design aspects.

In accordance with the architectural concept, the interior design is determined by organic, freely floating shapes, creating an inviting atmosphere. The large-scale enclosed wooden panelling on the walls and ceiling, as well as the intricate composition of slats, enhance the atmosphere and create an acoustically pleasant environment. The floor of the Viennese café is designed as a classic herringbone parquet. All other floors, on the other hand, feature large-format stone and carpeting elements, which harmoniously compliment the colour accents of the leather upholstery of the armchairs and benches and create impressive visual contrast to the wooden elements.
